The rear "coil springs" with the New Dodge RAM is nothing more than likely another cost cutting measure turned into a gimmick. Competing trucks such as Chevy and Ford have been able to setup their trucks to ride well on everyday roads WITHOUT having to sacrifice durability. Coil Springs are NOT nearly as durable as Leaf Springs and additionally are NOT load variable the way Leaf Springs are.

Using coil springs at the rear of a truck used for hauling and work may also lead to premature rear suspension wear and comprimise handling while hauling or carrying a heavy load. Further proof of this is the "Warning Letter" to owners included in the Glovebox warning owners that the truck is NOT designed for use with a Slide In Camper. Coil springs are a gimmick Chrysler expects people to fall for.
