Mercedes Benz brings its first hybrid car onto the market – the S400 Blue Hybrid. This sedan allegedly only consumes 7.9 liters of premium fuel per 100 kilometers. Emitting only 190 grams of C02 per kilometer, this vehicle currently boasts the lowest value in its class. It does this using a 3.5 liter gasoline engine coupled with a permanent magnet electric engine with a combined output of 299 horsepower. A completely new kind of energy storage is the lithium ion high voltage battery.
