The 1963 is a Max Wedge clone. It is a 440 ci with a cross ram. Best time, on street tires was 13.4 secs.......with slicks likely down in the 11 sec bracket.I ran it once now she is retired to shows and cruise nights. Look for videos on the BelleHare. Our motor won't be ready till Aug.Melissa

Yes I know, the aluminum nosed cars were also done on the 62 Dodge Dart and Polara as well as some of the Plymouths. But see they were putting the 421's into those cars just for racing. Mopar put 413 bigblocks in from the factory that anyone could go and buy, as well as you could go to the dealership and pick up the Polara with aluminum nose and ready to race with a 413. GM marketed and still does that the 63 Pontiac GTO was the first muscle car when it was not. These were not special race only cars that only race teams could get, this was factory stuff.

Hey, check out the pontiac super duty 1961 ,62 with aluminum nose and fenders. There was also the ford Galaxy .Some racing team(Smokey Yunick) was putting 421"s in the pontiac tempest. The gto was one of the first MID size hipo that sold in large numbers to the general public.

Although Pontiac claims to have built the first muscle car. The first muscle car was actually built by Dodge and Plymouth in 1962 with the Plymouth Belvedere 413 and Dodge Polara 413, Plymouth Fury 413, Dodge Dart 413 and there were a few others, all built a few years before the GTO the so called first muscle car. And here is a fine example of one. And these cars became the first Funny Cars, by the Ram Charger team, the funny cars and the stock versions dominated drag racing way before other car companies even tried to compete, and they fail miserably.
