The early laps saw a fast starting Mike Robinson's Seat challenging Peter Cunningham's similar machine for fourth, whilst the distraction of their dice allowed the MMC BMW of Dave Cox and Tom Howard's Bubble and Kick version to catch up. Craig Davies was holding station behind the leading pair in the Sub Zero Wolf Seat, whilst Harry Cockill was carving through the field, having been delayed by a sticking air jack, and starting from the pit lane in the HE Racing Seat.
