History Of Our Club The American muscle car club of Australia isn't your ordinary one make car club, - nor is it just group of car crazy enthusiasts that enjoy classic US road warriors. Nope !, the AMCCA is a group of ordinary people who enjoy each others company, their extraordinary cars, and most of all love getting out and about for a good time. American Muscle Car enthusiasts, Garry McLaughlin and John Mafrici co-founders of the AMCCA realised late last year, that whilst, many people they'd met were passionate about a specific model they still admired .. (and were curious) - about various magnificent driving machines frequenting annual auto events and ever popular Saturday night cruises. Garry and John kept hearing a common quip from members of various car clubs, lamenting that they needed a little more variety when it came to appreciating cars, given many were long standing members of one make clubs and had pretty much learned all they could about their particular Marque. So in early September 2006 Garry stood down as the president of the NSW Corvette Club and with the help of John Mafrici started the American muscle car club of Australia. The club is open to anyone who appreciates, drives or owns anything Detroit pushed out the doors starting from the Fabulous 50's and Sizzling 60's right through to current model noughties (00's). The club meets monthly to discuss ideas, runs, events, and social gatherings - input from anyone is welcome at all times, whether in person, or on behalf via the attending committee. "One big benefit of having so many members from other car clubs, is that AMCCOA's ended up as one great melting pot of ideas", which makes us look outside the things we'd been doing for a long time at each others existing or previous club". Since September, the club has grown to have such automotive marques as Mustang, Corvette, Shelby, Cobra, Camaro, Firebird, Chrysler, Dodge, Pontiac, on the register. The club has represented its rides at the recent Sydney International motor show, which despite the inclement weather, proved to be a big hit this years crowd. Other events include, joining the Camaro/Firebirds for their very popular monthly Saturday mystery cruise night, the Romans Hot rodders for their monthly club gatherings at Sylvania hungry Jacks - and only last week visiting the Australian muscle car club for donuts and pies at Harrys café de wheels. There's monthly sunday breakfast drives, the famous Tuesday night BBQ's at Thirroul beach and a new concept just starting out called "Garage afternoons" …. The overriding theme of the club is simply social and most of all keep it relaxed and in good fun. Its early days and everyone's looking forward to the club growing in numbers for 2007 - so far, many of us have made new friends, learned a little more about each others cars.
